The capability, without the hire.

A senior consultant in your team, one to three days a week, for as long as you need the capability without the hire. We review the business, find where performance can improve, and see the cost and operational changes through to the bottom line. We also support you through an acquisition, a sale or an integration, alongside board reporting and lender negotiations.

Fees agreed in writing before work starts: a day rate for a defined period. Three to six months is typical.

Who it is for

Teams with a gap that is too senior to leave empty and too narrow to hire for.

Family offices and private lenders

Someone to run the reporting, monitor the loans, review the next deal and sit across from the bank, a day or two a week.

Businesses that need a finance lead

The finance lead between the bookkeeper and the board: the model, the pack, the lender relationship and the questions an investor asks.

Owners buying, selling or merging

The analysis a buyer, a seller or a board will test, the separation or integration plan, and the cost and benefit tracking after the deal closes.

Businesses that have outgrown how they run

When growth has outpaced the processes, the reporting and the structure: a review of where the business is stuck, and support while it changes.

Lenders, receivers and advisers

Credit and modelling capacity for a backlog, a portfolio review or a workout, from someone with over a decade across accounting, consulting and institutional credit.

What the days are spent on

Strategic business review

How the business makes and spends its money, which parts earn their keep, where it is stuck, and the options in front of the owners, set out in plain numbers.

Performance improvement

We find where margin and cash are lost, in cost, pricing, working capital or the way the business runs. We then size what recovering them is worth and track each change through to the bottom line.

Business analysis

The current process mapped, the requirements written down, and each proposed change tested for value against cost before anyone builds it, so the money goes to the changes that pay.

Operational transformation

The operating model, processes, reporting and controls redesigned so the business can run at its new size, then put in alongside your team.

M&A and integration support

Acquisition and divestment analysis, separation and integration planning, and the synergy and cost tracking that shows whether the deal delivered, with your corporate advisers and lawyers leading the transaction.

Consulting support

Senior support on the changes week to week: decisions prepared, progress tracked against the plan, and problems raised before they cost money.

Board and lender reporting

The monthly or quarterly pack, the covenant and facility reporting, and the explanation of what moved.

Lender negotiations

A refinance, a new facility, a waiver or an amendment, negotiated by someone who knows what the credit team on the other side needs to hear.

Portfolio oversight

Each loan, property or investment reviewed against its case; exceptions raised early; the next decision modelled before it is due.

How it works

A defined period, a fixed day rate and a written scope, so everyone knows what the days are for. Extended by agreement; ended with notice.

Where the experience comes from

Enterprise corporate transactions inside a major Australian bank: M&A, separation and integration analysis and business analysis on multi-billion-dollar transactions, and the quantification of a billion-dollar customer remediation exercise. Debt financing and acquisitions across more than A$20bn, and over a decade across accounting, consulting and institutional credit.

Scope

The outcomes, the days per week and the period, agreed in writing before the first day.

Alongside your advisers

Your accountant and lawyer keep doing what they do. We do no tax, accounting or legal work, and any conflict is disclosed as soon as we identify it.

On site or remote

On site in Sydney; elsewhere remotely, with days on site by arrangement.
